Teacher News
Habitats!
Our field trip to the Santa Monica National Recreation Area last week went really well! We not only had a great time, but we were able to view the different habitats of various creatures living in and around the area.
This week we are further studying animal habitats and adaptations as we read two interesting books that are fiction, but based on nonfictional facts: Castles, Caves and Honeycombs, by Linda Ashman, and Home for a Tiger, Home for a Bear, by Brenda Williams and Rosamund Fowler. We will be comparing and contrasting all the different habitats we both read about and have experienced through our walk and looking at the creatures (crayfish and snails) living in our classrooms.
We have also been writing about the different habitats, using adjectives and adverbs. We are studying contractions, as well as ABC order and using all of these things in our journal writing.
Finally, we are gearing up for the Fall Festival every Friday by rotating in groups for Fun Fridays, learning about the chosen theme, “Music.” Please make sure you sign up to lend a hand and be a part of our wonderful Fall Fest Day coming up on Nov. 18th!
