Balance and Motion
We are continuing our study of “Balance and Motion” in our classrooms. Last week, we did exciting “experiments” on ourselves, such as how long you can stand on one foot with eyes open, and then how long can you do it with eyes closed! We also “walked a tightrope” (jumprope on the ground) and made up our own balance experiments to share with others.
To tie in with our science unit on “Balance and Motion,” we will be reading the book Anthony Reynoso: Born to Rope, by Martha Cooper and Ginger Gordon. This is the story of a 9-year-old Mexican “charro” (cowboy) who lassos and we’ll learn how he does this and keeps his balance, both on the ground and while riding a horse! It will be interesting to learn about someone around our same age who can do all these amazing tricks!
Please remember there is NO SCHOOL this coming MONDAY due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday (all schools in our district have off). Also, the teachers need to receive back the White Envelope in which your child’s 1st trimester report card came—please send it back in as soon as possible—thanks!!!
