Barnes & Noble Read Aloud!!!

I am looking for student volunteers to kick off our read aloud nights.  Our first night will be Friday, February 10, at 6 pm. The read aloud will be about an hour.  I would like a handful of students who can present original stories as well as published books.  For example, a student can choose to read their fractured fairytale written in class and the original fairytale text.  A student can also choose a story that supports our habits. Students will be reading their stories to our younger grade friends. This is a great opportunity for our students to practice their public-speaking skills. If your child would like to participate, please let me know.

Literature circles are beginning.  Students will be reading in groups exploring a new book.  Literature circle is a student driven reading circle with teacher support.  Books have been selected based on students’ lexiles.

Science is a continuation of our study of rocks. Students are currently creating an accordion book about the three types of rocks.   (Continued on next page)
